Can you say: conflict of interest?

But I thought the reason drugs are so expensive was research and development . . .
Herbs and oils
December 17, 2006This information is from The Maker’s Diet.
I knew aloe vera was good for the stomach and intestines (Rubin says to exercise caution). But evidently it can also help acne.
Cinnamon as an herb “calms the stomach . . kill bacteria-causing tooth decay and disease-causing fungi and viruses . . reduces the amount of insulin necessary for glucose metabolism in Type II diabetes. One-eighth teaspoon of this herb triples insulin efficiency! . . . do not consume straight cinnamon oil. ” For a cold or the flu, inhale oil or put on soles of your feet. If irritation occurs, apply vegetable oil over skin where cinnamon oil was applied.
The Maker’s Diet part 2
December 16, 2006I wanted to add some information from The Maker’s Diet that I didn’t include in my original post.
About protein: “If even one of these eight essential amino acids is missing, the body is unable to synthesize the other proteins it needs–no matter how much protein you eat! Animal protein is our only complete protein source . . .”
Rubin argues against several myths that are prevelant as reasons to be a vegetarian–I don’t want to take space to write them in this post.
Spam
December 9, 2006If you have a lot of spam, this might be a solution. I don’t have an account there but Matthew does.
More Gift Ideas
December 9, 2006I love having my very own computer. If I have a thought, it goes into a Word document. I guess I could have been that way before but written things on paper (I still make to-do lists, grocery lists, etc on paper) but then what do you do with the paper? Have a filing folder for silly lists like your favorite Christmas songs, instructions for the babysitter, etc? I guess it might work for some people. But I like the filing system of the computer. I save my document and then anytime I need it, I can retrieve it alphabetically from my documents and I don’t have to read my messy handwriting. One of the lists I have is actually an Excel document and it contains people I need to buy gifts for, gift ideas for them, and gift ideas for anyone who I need a gift for unexpectedly. I’m very proud of it because I’ve never been a very good gift giver, but now that I have a system, I can write down what people would like or what I think they would like and refer to it at the time I’m going to buy the gift.
I thought I would share some of the things on my list for anyone who struggles with knowing what to get, especially if you want to avoid Wal-Mart.
For kids: get a toy from Ten Thousand Villages, get a book to encourage reading
For women: gift certificate to a spa, maid, or Shaklee (or some other environmentaly-friendly company) products
For men: ? I’m working on this one. For my husband, it would probably be a book or a gift certificate to Apple. Right, honey?
A good way to get what you want? Get an Amazon wish list. I read that shopping online is better for the environment–a bonus!
If all else fails, give to Heifer (or your charity of choice) in the name of your loved one instead of getting a trinket that will be regifted or clutter up the house (unless, of course, it’s the trinket they want and they would love you forever if you got it).
Flu Vaccines
December 7, 2006I need to check my hotmail more frequently so I’m not writing so many posts at once. I wonder if ya’ll get tired of Mercola and NewsTarget. . . . I just try to pass on the good stuff.
Mercury and the FDA
December 7, 2006Sometime I will post on vaccines. I’m not entirely sure that I’m against them but I can’t be 100% for them. In the meantime, read this article that explains that mercury is in at least “45 prescribed or over-the-counter drugs, including eye ointments, nasal sprays, and vaccines. Mercury-containing flu vaccines are administered both to children and to pregnant women.”
Good grief.
