Chemicals–yum, what do you mean my kid’s got cancer?

January 1, 2007

Pledge, Lysol, Clorox, Windex all market to moms; Lysol and clorox commercials basically say: “Please protect your kid from ‘germs’ and spray everything they own with our product.”

Wake up, America! (And Canada since that’s where the link below is from.)

Gift ideas

November 22, 2006

Still don’t know what to get loved ones for Christmas? Here are some ideas:

Restaurant gift certificates are great, especially for the oldest generation who has everything but has to eat and cooking can come with difficulty.

Get a book: The Maker’s Diet is a great one.
Buy a sheep, chick or water buffalo for a poor family from Heifer in the name of your loved one.

Pay for a housekeeper for any woman you know.

Or give one of the many great Shaklee products:

pH balanced, non-carcinogenic and environmentally friendly personal care products such as: the lip treatment, balancing moisturizer, purifying cleansing gel, Aspire fragrance, hand wash concentrate, blush, foundation, etc.

AirSource air purifier or BestWater water filtering systems

high quality vitamins, omegaguard, Optiflora

Or my favorites, the laundry products: fresh laundry liquid, soft fabric dryer sheets, and Nature Bright.

Shaklee

November 12, 2006

Thought it was time for another Shaklee plug.

What does Shaklee have that you need?

Chemicals in your household cleaners are linked to allergies, birth defects, cancer and psychological abnormalities. * Women who work at home have a 54% higher death rate from cancer than women who work away from home because the fumes of household cleaners can linger a long time in the air after use and can seep out of the bottles when not in use. * The most toxic substances to aquatic organisms are bleach, all-purpose cleaner, laundry detergent and dish detergent–even more than paint and car wax. If it’s not good for aquatic organisms, it can’t be that good for us. * Included in the top 12 cancer causing products: Ajax Cleanser, Lysol Disinfectant. (Source: National Cancer Prevention Coalition)

Shaklee’s laundry detergent outperforms Shout and Spray’n'Wash on stains and, coupled with Nature Bright, does better than Tide with Bleach Alternative. It gets out smells that regular detergent doesn’t (I say this from experience, not any literature and Matthew has had the same experience.) Detergent is in your bloodstream 90 seconds after you put on your clothes. In fact, a urine test can reveal which laundry detergent you use so you want a detergent that won’t fill your body with chemicals.

Do some research: http://householdproducts.nlm.nih.gov/ and http://toxtown.nlm.nih.gov/town/main.html

Why take a natural vitamin supplement? Your body recognizes the difference between a synthetic and a natural vitamin and may not respond well to the synthetic. * Shaklee vitamins are guaranteed to be absorbed and assimilated into the bloodstream. If your vitamin doesn’t break down in water in 30 minutes it may be passing right through your body. *Shaklee does not process with heat and pressure which can damage the enzymes that allow the body to absorb the nutrients. * Shaklee vitamins do not contain sugars, artificial colorings, artificial sweeteners, artificial preservatives, or fillers. * There is a full money back guarantee!

Chemicals and metals in personal care products (shampoo, make-up, etc.) are linked to acute toxicity, tumors, reproductive complications, biological mutation, skin and eye irritations. * Shaklee personal care products are not harmful to humans or the environment. They are pH balanced so you won’t strip your body of the natural oils that are part of your immune system. I’ve tried several shampoos and toothpaste from the natural food store here and have not liked the taste or the smell. I do like Shaklee’s though. Whew. Good thing.

At Shaklee, each year approximately 83,000 laboratory and quality assurance tests are performed on nutritional products and their ingredients alone. Shaklee screens their products for more pesticide residue than are covered in the Council for Responsible Nutrition guidelines.

Shaklee has more than 45 patents and patents-pending worldwide.

Shaklee’s multivitamin is the result of 90 years of research and development. Shaklee had the first environmentally safe household cleaner (developed in 1960–Basic H), the first sustained-release vitamin C, had the first clinically proven soluble fiber, and first natural interferon booster. Shaklee is also the nation’s first climate neutral certified company.

530,000 tons of household waste go into our soil and streams each year. That’s bad news but the good news is you can do something about it!

Visit my friend’s site: www.shaklee.net/fruth If you decide to place an order please drop me an email so I’ll get credit; I don’t have my own site yet.

Buying a new product means changing the habit of buying the old, but when it comes to your health and especially that of your children, it’s worth it.

New and updated

September 24, 2006

Shaklee is introducing biodegradable dryer sheets and multi-purpose wipes (called Basic H2 wipes). Yeah! They also have updated the look (which was from 50 years ago) on their cleaning products. Basic H has been improved so that’s why it’s called Basic H2.

Check out the new stuff

Remember: why shaklee? Because it’s healthy for you and the environment!

First steps follow-up

September 3, 2006

If you don’t know what candida is it’s yeast infection, trush, diaper rash, etc.

Also, Dawn said we need a healthy bowel system but didn’t say how. Pre & pro-biotics that’s how. This is extremely important to health. Dr. Mercola has a brand he recommends. I recommend Shaklee’s Optiflora because theirs is incapsulated three times so as it passes through your esophagus and stomach and breaks down, 500 million live microflora will still arrive at your intestines. They’ve tested popular acidophilus products on the market and often the bacteria is dead and/or is a low count by the time you buy it. Probiotics also help with yeast infections, ear infections and help build immune system.

Shaklee also has an Omega 3 pill or you can grind flaxseed in a coffee grinder and add to cereal, protein drink, etc. (I say grind because buying it already ground unrefrigerated means it’s rancid–brilliant manufacturers even at the health food store.) Omega 3 helps arthritis, migraines, depression, ADD and is a cancer preventative. (You can also eat fish for omega3.)

Cleaning/washing part 2

August 16, 2006

I promise it won’t always be feast or famine on here. I hadn’t told anyone about the blog yet and wanted to get that out before I posted more. Have several coming.

———-

I recently tried Shaklee’s laundry detergent. I have been trying different Shaklee products for about 7 months now but had been holding off on the laundry detergent. I had been using a dye- and fragrance-free detergent so I thought I was doing pretty well even though I knew Shaklee’s was organic so it would be healthier. Well, I finally got the detergent and as soon as I pulled the clothes from the washer to put them in the dryer, they felt different. Clean! No residue! And they smell clean–not fragranced, clean! Oh, it’s great . . . especially knowing I don’t have to worry about ill effects in my bloodstream (yes, your detergent gets through your skin). Check out the laundry products Shaklee has to offer.

While I’m at it . . did you know that Ajax & Lysol are in the list of top cancer causing products?

This country’s obsession with anti-bacterial everything is part of what’s making us sick. Yes, we know bacteria can do “bad” things but when we freak out about it we end up using things that do worse harm like chlorox wipes, germ-x (both which I used for awhile) etc, killing our skin cells faster than they die naturally, causing harmful substances to be absorbed in our bodies, and stripping away our bodies natural oils which are part of our defense system.
Organic cleaners work and are affordable. Shaklee’s Basic H costs 14.5 cents for a gallon as general cleaning and less than a cent for a gallon as window cleaner!

Email me if you’re interested.

Integrity

August 3, 2006

Since I will post some about Shaklee I thought I should make sure my audience trusts me. I’ve seen what happens to people’s eyes when I talk about Shaklee. They glaze over and you can almost see them clutch their wallet tighter. They know that ultimately I want them to buy and so they don’t want to listen to what I say and maybe they think they can’t completely believe what I say.

I only got into Shaklee because I believe in their products. In fact, I considered not selling so that people would believe me when I talked about it (but I knew if people did believe me, I’d be sad I wasn’t able to take advantage of it since I’m a stay-at-home mom and therefore not earning any income). I was also only willing to sell Shaklee because they have products people use anyway so I’m not hoping someone will buy something that both of us know they don’t really need which is a big deal for me. Shaklee is also a company with integrity which is another reason I was attracted to it and I wanted people to know such an exciting company exists even if I don’t make money.

So there you have it. I can’t promise never to mislead but I will never do it knowingly.

Cleaning/washing

August 2, 2006

I thought I would post several entries today to explain some of my links. I don’t have a link for organic cleaners but I would like to tempt you with them. I don’t think I’ve even known they existed for very long and I think my first thought was that it’s great for people who care about the environment. But what I’ve been learning is how damaging cleaners are to people. If you want detailed information, just ask but suffice it to say that regular cleaners are linked to allergies, birth defects, cancer and psychological abnormalities.

I know this idea takes getting used to. Most of us always trust the companies that put things on our grocer’s shelves–I did. It really took me awhile to believe that bleach, which has been around for so long, could really be unsafe. But after the initial shock, I think it makes sense.

I won’t make this post too long but consider trying one organic cleaner or detergent this month. Personally, I use and sell Shaklee but I would still feel gratified even if you go to your local health food store (or some Krogers) for their cleaners. You’d be improving your health, and yes, the environment.
